Jane Sable-Friedman - Executive Director

Jane Sable-Friedman was born in New York and moved to Israel as a young child with her family. She was raised on Kibbutz Cabri in the Western Galilee. Jane graduated from Bar Ilan University with a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and from the Haifa University with a Masters Degree in Cultural Geography. While in Israel, Jane was involved in Kibbutz Management and Culture Administration. She worked together with one of the most influential Israeli Artistic Directors to open a fringe theater school and create an experimental theater.

Jane moved back to the USA in 2004 with her family and became the Executive Director at Temple Adat Shalom in Poway, CA and then in 2010 became the Executive Director of Temple Beth El, Jewish Community Center in Aptos, CA. Jane received her FTA (Fellow in Temple Administration) from NATA and serves as a Vice President on the NATA Board.

Rabbi Eve Rudin - Director of Education,Youth and Families

Prior to joining the Larchmont Temple team, Rabbi Rudin served as the Director of the Congregational School at Park Avenue Synagogue in New York City, the Director of Camp Excellence and Advancement at the Foundation for Jewish Camp, and served as the Director of NFTY (North American Federation of Temple Youth) and the URJ Kutz Camp for Reform Jewish teens for the URJ (Union for Reform Judaism). A product of the Reform Jewish movement, Eve graduated with a B.A. in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies from Brandeis University and was awarded a Wexner Graduate Fellowship during her rabbinic studies at HUC-JIR where she was ordained in May 2000. Her undergraduate and graduate thesis work focused upon youth movements and camping, and she has spoken and presented at numerous conferences on experiential Jewish education, camping, faith development and youth mentorship.

Phil Aarons - Full-Time Educator

A graduate of the US Naval Academy with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Engineering and Soviet Studies, Phil served as a Commissioned officer in the US Navy for 7 years. Retiring as a Lieutenant Commander in 1984, he began his career as a Jewish educator in 1987 and has been sharing his expertise in teaching Hebrew reading, Torah & values, & Jewish history to our 3rd – 9th graders since 2000. Over the years, Phil has held the roles of part-time educator, assistant to our Director of Education and supplemental tutor for our B’nei Mitzah learners. He believes that people learn when they see how much you love Judaism and how much you love being in the classroom and is thrilled to serve as LT’s Full-Time Educator. Phil can be reached at Paarons@larchmonttemple.org.

Shoshana Levine - Youth Coordinator

Shoshy grew up in Chevy Chase, Maryland, where she was able to foster her love for Judaism through her involvement in her Jewish youth group. She received a B.A. in physics from Barnard College, where she worked part time as a peer-to-peer tutor, physics researcher, conflict resolution mentor, and Hillel board member of the Reform community. After spending so much meaningful time building strong Jewish community at the Hillel, she decided to take the leap and work on building meaningful communities and connections to Judaism full-time. Shoshy is looking forward to working with high school students to create Jewish experiences that they can take with them the rest of their lives. Emma Rehfeld -  Music & T’fillah Coordinator

A graduate of Bard College, Emma Rehfeld is serving her second year as Music and T’filah Coordinator at Larchmont Temple. What she loves most about singing with groups is the community that grows from making music together, and the opportunity to empower people with all sorts of musical backgrounds through song. She has been song leading professionally for nine years with all ages in a variety of Jewish contexts including mommy-and-me classes, nursery schools, religious schools, summer camps, congregational services, adult retreats, teen-led weekends and the like. Emma’s day-to-day- at Larchmont includes LTNS music, KESHER musical programing and T’filot, Shabbat services, co-running the children’s choirs with Canter Scher, music for special events, and facilitating other musical programing throughout the year for Larchmont Temple as a whole. Jonathan Faiman - Music Director

Jonathan Faiman received his Doctorate of Musical Arts from Manhattan School of Music where he studied piano with Leon Fleisher and Yoheved Kaplinsky, and composition with Ludmila Ulehla and Nils Vigeland. Dr. Faiman is a member of the Locrian Chamber Players and was an adjunct company member of The Actors Company Theatre (TACT) throughout its 25-year existence. He has received ASCAP awards for his work as composer, arranger, and educator. His CDs are available on Amazon and CDBaby. Dr. Faiman has musically directed productions at Amani Charter School, Arc Stages, The Bronxville School, Horace Mann, Kol Ami, and Young at Arts. Dr. Faiman currently works as MD, choral conductor, staff accompanist, and teaching faculty at Young at Arts, Larchmont Temple, Westchester Reform Temple, and Concordia College.

Shara Kimmel - Finance Manager

Shara Kimmel joined the finance team at Larchmont Temple in 2018. She is a CPA, starting her career in audit.  For the last 12 years Shara was the Controller of a mid-sized digital marketing agency. As the Treasurer of Community Synagogue, where she is a member and sits on the board, she has a broad understanding of temple finances and looks forward to bringing that experience to the community of Larchmont Temple. She lives in Rye Brook with her husband, Michael,  their two daughters, Rebecca  and Abby , and their Yorkie-Poo, Augie. They are also very involved with Crane Lake Camp where Michael is on the board and their daughters have spent the last ten summers.   Shara can be reached at skimmel@larchmonttemple.org.
 


Mia Kargen - Director of Early Childhood Program

Mia Kargen grew up in Pennsylvania and later attended Boston University for Film and Television production. After working for a number of years as a camera assistant for the National Basketball Association, Mia returned to school and received a Master's Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from New York University. She began teaching Kindergarten in an Integrated Co-Teaching classroom at The Manhattan School for Children, where she met Lisa Gershon. In 2014, after 10 years at The Manhattan School for Children, Mia joined LTNS. She was very excited to work with Lisa again. Mia currently lives in Pocantico Hills, NY with her husband Alex and her daughters Evelyn and Vivienne. Mia can be reached at mkargen@larchmonttemple.org.


AMY MILLER - Associate Director of Early Childhood Program
Amy is happy to be joining the staff at Larchmont Temple Nursery School as their Associate Director. For the past 10 years, Amy worked as the Studio Teacher at Beginnings Nursery School in New York City and as an educational consultant through Teaching Beyond the Square. It was through leading a workshop that she met and fell in love with LTNS. Amy holds a BS in Visual Art with a minor in Art History from Pace University and a MA in Art Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. Amy’s work has been published in ‘Innovations’ NAREA’s educational journal, as well as in ARCHplus, an architectural journal. Most recently, Amy wrote a chapter called “Introducing Materials to Children: Two Ways that I Begin” that was included in the book, Beautiful Stuff from Nature: More Learning with Found Materials. Amy began teaching in 2002 and has taught art classes for a variety of ages, from 2-year olds to adults with disabilities. Amy lives in Tarrytown, NY with her husband, Kent, and their daughter Agnes. Amy can be reached at amiller@larchmonttemple.org.
