The Adult Education Committee presents STEAL A PENCIL FOR ME a compelling documentary feature film about a love affair that not only survived but flourished in the Nazi concentration camps. Directed by Academy Award® nominee Michèle Ohayon, the film is about the power of love and the ability of humankind to rise above unimaginable suffering.
As Jack Polak says about the experiences depicted in this remarkable film, "I'm a very special Holocaust survivor. I was in the camps with my wife and my girlfriend; and believe me, it wasn't easy." Join us in viewing this wonderful film -- and meeting Jack and his lovely wife Ina in person! On Sunday, April 27th at 4 pm

In addition, you’ll have a chance to say “Happy Birthday” to LT and Israel by purchasing an ad in the Event Journal.  This will be LT’s only benefit this spring – an evening for celebrating our history, our present and our future.  Don’t wait!  Send in your RSVP now to ensure your place at this historic evening!

In addition, you’ll have a chance to say Happy Birthday to LT and Israel by placing an ad in our 60thAnniversary Commemorative Journal.  You may do so by filling in the ad blank you received in the mail and returning it to the temple by April 18, 2008.  If you cannot find your copy of the ad you may print one by visiting our web page at http://www.larchmonttemple.org/and clicking on the journal ad blank link on the home page. If you care deeply about Israel, you should not miss the ARZA National Assembly, May 11th-14th, in Baltimore, MD.  This biennial event brings together Reform Jews from around the U.S. and Israel for a series of workshops and seminars designed to understand Israeli society on a deeper level and to provide you with peers & mentors, and tools & experiences to make Israel connections more alive in our congregation:

  • What can Israel’s art and music teach us about Israel today?
  • How are Reform Israelis becoming international leaders on addressing global environmental challenges?
  • What are Reform Jews here and in Israel doing to help Israel fulfill its own ideals as a pluralistic democracy and a just society?
  • A special one-day Leadership Development Seminar

Great entertainment, too, in and around Baltimore’s scenic inner harbor.  For full details, see www.arza.org/assembly2008,or contact Debra Goldstein, deg1050@aol.com, or 441-3029
