So many helped over the holidays want to offer thanks for your generosity. What did we do?
- We Gave Robe Sets To A Battered Women's Shelter: My Sister's Place would like to thank all those who participated in making sure that the residents of both of their homes are receiving holiday gifts. Receiving a warm new robe and slippers is very much appreciated.
- We Gave CD Players To A Group Of Girls At A Group Home: This year Sponsor-a-Family expanded to help girls living in a residential cottage at the Pleasantville School, a group home run by the Jewish Child Care Association. Each girl was given a CD player.
- We Gave Gift Certificates To Children At The Hawthorne Site For The Jewish Board Of Family And Children Services: Sponsor-a-Family volunteers also gave Galleria gift certificates to these foster children.
- We Helped Out Our Neighbors In Need: As always, Sponsor-a-Family helped make the holidays special for so many of our local families in need. Larchmont Temple was able to bring joy to families that the CAP Center and the Mamaroneck Pre-K indicated were in crisis.
- We Helped At The Annual Christmas Party At The Brooklyn YMCA: Lee Perlman, who organizes this incredible event, joined a nice group of families from Larchmont Temple as part of the 300 plus volunteers to serve Christmas dinner and distribute gifts. Included in the gifts this year were more than 70 coats donated at the LT Coat Drive . There were 100 people on line at 8am for fear of their child not having a toy, the line was around block by 10:00 , 500 people were on line on average of 5 hours, and 2500 people cam thru by 5PM .
